Job Title: Medical Writer – Pharmaceutical Sales Training/CME

The Medical Writer will research and write accurate and fully referenced training content for pharmaceutical sales representatives across a variety of therapeutic areas. Content will be developed in a range of formats, including digital and print, to meet the needs of the clients. The Medical Writer will interact and collaborate with the Director of Content Services, other writers, Account Directors and Managers, Project Managers, the Editorial team, the Production and Design Teams,

and the Operations Director.

The Medical Writer reports to the Director of Content Services.    

WRITER RESPONSIBILITIES

Research and Writing

  • Research medical and scientific topics using various information services, including subscriptions such as Clinical Key and Access Medicine, online journal subscriptions, the Reference Database, and literature search databases
  • Source appropriate references for projects using subscriptions, reputable freely available content, or by requesting necessary reference purchases via the Project Manager 
  • Write and update eLearning modules, infographics, product/competitor fact sheets, executive summaries, patient journeys/case studies, assessments, podcast and video scripts, and other training materials that utilize assimilated knowledge of specialized therapeutic areas
  • Ensure scientific accuracy of work and compliance with AMA style, client style guidelines, and client referencing standards
  • Refine and edit drafts based on client feedback
  • Work within budgeted hours for each project, meeting proposed timelines
  • Coordinate with Design and Production Teams, sourcing graphical representations and following ERS art submission guidelines

Other Responsibilities

  • Attend weekly touch point meeting with Director of Content Services
  • Attend regular Content Department Meetings
  • Attend Med-Legal review meetings and project status meetings as needed
  • Assist in the creative development of proposals for new business
  • Provide informal support and guidance to other Medical Writers when needed
  • Seek additional opportunities to develop skills in research, writing, and knowledge of specialized therapeutic areas as time allows
  • Other duties as assigned
