The Business Development Manager is responsible for driving net new business opportunities, forming alliances, securing partnerships, and expanding into diverse industry sectors. This role is pivotal to the company’s ongoing growth.

The Business Development Director reports directly to the Chief Operating Officer and collaborates with Strategy, Marketing, and Delivery teams.


Strategic Business Development Activities (60%)

  • Focus on acquiring new growth accounts, surpassing revenue targets.
  • Identify strategic opportunities with new clients in specified industries.
  • Develop and execute client acquisition plans for target accounts.
  • Build relationships with Strategy, Technology, and Creative teams for new client pitches and engagements.
  • Create strategic account plans for key accounts within or new to existing client portfolio.
  • Foster mutually beneficial relationships throughout client organizations.
  • Gain an in-depth understanding of client needs, strategies, products, and services to build long-term partnerships.
  • Develop quarterly and annual new business development and sales plans.
  • Oversee the business development process from start to finish, collaborating with cross-functional teams.
  • Ensure accurate scoping and vetting of proposals by relevant team members.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify new client needs and secure early access to opportunities.
  • Monitor revenue and project pipelines in collaboration with the Managing Director, Strategy and Operations team.

Thought Leadership on Small- and Medium-Growth Accounts (20%)

  • Maintain fluency in offerings, case studies, and new ventures for application to client challenges.
  • Engage in client-facing opportunities as directed.
  • Act as the main point of contact for allocated accounts and new clients.

Contribution to Business Development and Marketing/PR Activities (20%)

  • Develop relationships with the Marketing team to enhance market awareness of the brand and increase lead generation.
  • Work within defined business development process and contribute to its ongoing evolution/improvement.


  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, marketing, or a related field.
  • A master’s degree in business administration (MBA) is advantageous.

Key Qualifications:

  • Essential experience in agency/consultancy business development, demonstrating a successful track record in achieving sales targets ($5m+ annually), acquiring new business, and building client relationships.
  • Experience in the creative and technology industry is highly beneficial.
  • Strong professional network within the regulated industry sector (e.g., Financial Services, Insurance, Life Sciences, Pharma).
  • Effective communication skills, including articulating the company’s value proposition, negotiating deals, and building relationships with clients and stakeholders.
  • Strategic thinking and analytical skills, with the ability to analyze market trends, understand the competitive landscape, and identify growth opportunities.
  • Good understanding of the creative and technology sectors, ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, and strong project management skills.
  • Adaptability and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

Additional Requirements:

  • Willingness to travel up to 50%.
  • Experience using Insightly or Hubspot (or equivalent CRM system).
